How Can Herbal Medicines Help you and Your Family?
The Sifre Center provides a Telehealth platform for consultations in all manners of health improvement and herbal medicines.
Herbal medicines are very important for maintaining optimum health and well-being as well as for helping in a myriad of health challenges. They can be used by themselves or as a complement to pharmaceutical therapies to improve health and optimize it.
At The Sifre Center we have been using herbal medicine formulas, raw herbs and tonics for almost three decades. Our formulas are chosen from the various manufacturers that we believe are the best in the marketplace. We have always chosen the manufacturers that offer the highest quality: formulas with no synthetic additives or fillers, with rigorous lab testing, excellent potency and as fresh as possible. More important perhaps, manufacturers that excel at the modern scientific application of the Materia Medica in the development and re-composition of ancient formulas.
Not everyone is able to come to our clinic as we have many clients that do not live in South Florida. This was the primary reason that years ago we decided to have an apothecary/pharmacy in our website Sifrecenter.com. Our mission was to provide access to the same herbal medicines, vitamins and homeopathic remedies that we make available to our families and clients at the clinic. Moreover, we introduced a Telehealth platform to help clients in need of additional in-depth consultations in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbal medicines, dietary methods and energy medicine training like meditation-visualization, Tong Ren therapy and Chi Gong practice.
How do herbal medicines help all of us?
Every pharmaceutical drug must be first discovered in the form of a botanical in the natural world. Botanists wonder the forests and mountains of the world looking for plants, roots etc. that may hold promise of development through synthetization of active components that may hold pharmaceutical promise. Take for example aspirin, which comes from the Willow tree. In other words, all drugs come from the natural world. This is the origin of herbal remedies since the dawn of civilization.
Herbal medicines are the original drugs, and they contain the wisdom of thousands of years of development and experimentation. This is the reason they continue to be effective in supporting and improving human health in several ways. Sustained by centuries of traditional knowledge as found in the Chinese Materia Medica and others, herbal medicine formulas are increasingly supported by scientific research. For example, the evidence that Cordyceps (Dong Chong Xia Cao), Turkey Tail and other mushrooms such as Ganoderma, Poria, and Tremella, can significantly help in the treatment and prevention of certain cancers is overwhelming. The same goes for Salvia root (Dan Shen) and Ho-Shou-Wu/Foti (Polygonum root). The former also being exceedingly effective as an antiaging compound that improves the health of the skin and hair (including color).
Herbal medicines are very powerful actors in helping manage chronic-degenerative disorders. They support physiological processes – particularly in the glandular system – without the often-harsh side effects of pharmaceuticals. For instance, it is well known that better melon can effectively reduce blood sugar in diabetics. Similarly, Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is highly anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It can help with arthritis and metabolic syndrome. Cinnamon can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar in type 2 diabetes.
Boosting Immunity: a significant number of herbs contain compounds that improve immunity. One of the most famous ones is Astragalus (Huang Chi), which also happens to boost energy and thus can be effective in fighting fatigue syndromes.
Stress reduction and Mental Health: We know that Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that reduces cortisol levels and that Rhodiola can improve mood and cognitive function.
Supporting Detoxification: Several herbs and herbal medicine compounds promote liver and kidney function to help eliminate toxins. For example, Milk thistle protects and regenerates liver cells. Dandelion root improves liver and gallbladder function. Long Gan Xie Gan Wan is a classical formula with broad effects in detoxification and Gut health with the property of being strongly anti-fungal, anti-Candida and anti-herpetic. Cardiovascular Health. Examples of herbs and herbal medicine compounds that improve blood flow, reduce cholesterol, clear blood stagnation and toxins and support heart health. For example, Hawthorn berry Strengthens heart function and improves blood circulation. Green tea has tremendous antioxidant effects and lowers LDL cholesterol. Dan Shen Wan compound removes blood stagnation, Plaque and cholesterol from the Lumen of arteries. Some research shows that it also has anti-tumor effects.
Important: Herbal Medicine effectiveness depends on preparation, dosage, and source. Many herbs and herbal medicine compounds can interact with prescription drugs. It is never a good idea to take these simultaneously with Chemical meds. At least 3hours of separation are recommended.
